Seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow Position, Section on Translational Biophotonics (STB) , National Institutes of Health
Section on Translational Biophotonics (STB) headed by Dr. Amir Gandjbakhche at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow Position. STB devises quantitative methodologies and associated instrumentation to bring technologies from the bench to the bedside.
STB selects projects using the framework of the NICHD mission, with a focus on childhood and adolescent disorders, placental function and abnormal cell development. The translational nature of the projects requires trans-disciplinary and trans-institutional collaborations within the Intramural Research Program, as well as with Academia.
The multi-disciplinary nature of STB research is also reflected in the diverse expertise of the Section team which include psychologists, biomedical engineers, experimental physicists, and computer scientists. Details of research conducted in STB can be found in the latest annual report https://annualreport.nichd.nih.gov/gandjbakhche.html.
Moreover, STB will have special collaboration with the newly formed Section on Biomedical Optics, headed by Dr. Bruce Tromberg, Director of NIBIB.
Ideal candidate should have strong motivation to work on highly challenging, high risk projects. Strong knowledge in optical methodologies, experimental and theoretical, as applied to tissue characterization and function is required.
Candidates with PhD degree in Engineering (e.g., Biomedical, Electrical), Physics, Biophysics, or related field, and excellent writing, speaking and interpersonal communication skills are encouraged to apply. The position starts with one year and can be extended to more years depending on performance. The position is available as early as July 1, 2019.
To apply, please send your CV and the name of 3 references to Amir Gandjbakhche (gandjbaa@mail.nih .gov)
