Postdoctoral Research Fellows in Biomedical Optics
The Center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging and Photonics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard University has multiple postdoctoral research fellow positions to join the interdisciplinary team headed by Prof. Lev T. Perelman. The Center develops light scattering, holographic, and Raman based optical spectroscopic techniques to study cancer progression at chromatin spatial scales, the interaction of coherent and incoherent light with cells and subcellular compartments, and develops in vivo optical methods for noninvasive sensing of invisible precancer. In the past decade, the Center scientists have published innovative research in Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, Nature Biomedical Engineering, PNAS, Cancer Cell and other top scientific journals.
We are seeking highly motivated and creative applicants with a strong background in either biomedical optical experiment or modeling and a doctoral degree in physics, biomedical or electrical engineering, computer science or related fields. Candidates in biomedical optical experiment should have proven hands-on experience in constructing optical spectroscopic and microscopic setups and their automation with LabVIEW or similar programming environment. Prior work with human tissue and/or animal models is highly desired. Candidates in biomedical optical modeling should have hands-on experience in scientific programming, parallel GPU computing (CUDA platform or similar) and Monte Carlo simulations. Prior work with optical system design (Zemax, CODE V, etc.) and computer-aided design (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) software is highly desired. Candidates with good interpersonal and writing skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
