Laboratory Manager - Biomedical Engineering - (16001448)

Description

 The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for all aspects of laboratory operations at the Tufts Advanced Microscopic Imaging Center (TAMIC). This includes maintenance, calibration, and installation of microscopes and accessories, review and oversight of imaging tasks, laboratory maintenance, user oversight and training in advanced microscopic imaging, including confocal, two-photon and CARS microscopic imaging, and administrative duties related to user training and maintenance of the lab budget. 

The Laboratory Manager will also have oversight of collaborative projects and may be actively involved in imaging of specimens. He/she will be in charge of performing imaging for users that require assistance (i.e. ones that are not trained to use the microscopes independently). The Laboratory Manager will also be responsible for strategic planning for laboratory growth, including identification of possible user groups inside and outside the university, strategic planning to provide improved services, attract and support new users, and working with university faculty and staff to secure outside funding for laboratory upgrades.

 

Qualifications

 Basic Requirements:

• 3-5 years of related experience
• PhD in engineering or the physical sciences.
• Optical instrumentation, linear and non-linear microscopic
imaging, Matlab, Labview.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 3-5 years of experience with optical microscopic imaging and instrumentation is highly desirable.
• Experience with managing multi-user equipment is useful. 
• Strong familiarity with instrumentation software is a plus. 
• Evidence of ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and to perform collaborative work is important.
