Postdoctoral Research Associate (optical imaging): Biomedical Engineering, Vanderbuilt

Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Location: Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN

Description:

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Department of

Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University. The objective of our research is to engineer

imaging techniques for the quantitative assessment of molecular and hemodynamic changes

associated with oncogenesis and cancer progression. The Postdoctoral Research Associate

will be involved in the development and application of optical coherence tomography (OCT)

systems for pre-clinical studies and will work in collaboration with engineers and biologists. The

applicant will have access to state-of-the-art resources in biomedical photonics. This position

will also provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in a multidisciplinary research

environment.

 

Qualifications of applicant:

Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of engineering or the physical

sciences. The applicant must be a capable experimentalist and have experience with lasers,

fiber optics and electronics. Previous experience in optical coherence tomography and/or

imaging, cell culture and small animal studies is particularly helpful. Excellent organizational

and communication skills are a must. The initial appointment will be for a one-year period, with

possibility of extension.
