October 1-2, 2009: Inter-Institute Workshop on Optical Diagnostic and Biophotonic Methods from Bench to Bedside
Inter-Institute Workshop on Optical Diagnostic and Biophotonic
Methods from Bench to Bedside
When: October 1-2, 2009
Location: Natcher Auditorium, NIH Campus, MD
Purpose: This workshop will discuss the latest developments in
biophotonics at the tissue, cellular, and molecular levels, with the goal of
reviewing: multi-modality imaging; development of molecular contrast agents;
imaging and women’s health issues; imaging and multi-disciplinary
networks of scientists; European, American, and Asian networks; and
science-industry partnerships. The workshop will bring together experts in the
diagnosis and treatment with biophotonics methods, applied to different areas,
such as breast cancer, brain imaging, cardiovascular diseases, eye screening,
and many others. Sessions will be divided into the following areas:
* Eye
* Brain
* Breast
* Molecular Probes and Targets
* Vascular
* Microscopes to Endoscopes
* Stem Cells
The sessions will include lectures by top people in the biophotonic
field, as well as panels of experts addressing the needs for fast cures and for
overcoming barriers to translational medicine. Invited speakers are highly
respected researchers and experts in biophotonics technology.
