Candidates with experimental research experience are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Biomedical Optics at the University of Michigan.

 

Our research program in Biomedical Optics involves developing and applying methods of optical science and engineering to probe and quantify the living systems found in biology and medicine, with a goal of impacting patient care via the development of non- and minimally-invasive biomedical optical diagnostic technologies. The translational ("bench to bedside") research strategy we employ has three major approaches: (1) Biomolecular Imaging; (2) Clinical Biosensing; (3) Computational Modeling.  Multidisciplinary projects are performed in close collaboration with faculty from the University of Michigan Medical School, the College of Literature, Science, & the Arts, and the College of Engineering.

 

Experimental research experience with biomedical optics, biomedical engineering, laser spectroscopy, fiber optics, microscopy, optical imaging, and/or computer programming and interfacing will be favorably regarded.  Excellent communication skills are required.  Candidates are expected to be capable of performing productive and independent research activities under Prof. Mycek’s supervision, to collaborate effectively with other group members, as well as colleagues who work on collaborative research projects, and to participate in training graduate students and supervising undergraduates.  Applicants must have a strong publication and academic record.
